Club Welfare officer, Gillian Turner said:

'Our aim is to encourage members to fulfil their potential in life through the medium of swimming in an environment that is positive, friendly and open to all. We are especially keen to make swimmers and their parents feel wanted and accepted straight away, and to maximise the enjoyment of swimming in all its forms. We are all here to make the club as much fun as possible.'

In awarding a Grant of £250 to the club, Sainsbury’s Canterbury Store Manager Jayne Edwards said:

'Canterbury Swimming Club promotes all that is good about a healthy, active and inclusive lifestyle. I am especially impressed by the enthusiasm shown for adapting their programmes to individual children and young people, whatever their abilities and disabilities. It is good to see such positive encouragement in action, and I am confident that with such able coaching, team GB will continue to maintain its outstanding tally of medals in the Olympic and Paralympic Games for many years to come.'

The Sainsbury’s Grant will be used to help buy a starting block for training and competitive swimming.

The club is run entirely by volunteers, and anyone who would like to help in any way will be welcomed with open arms.
