Swimmers triumph at Regional Modern Triathlon Championships

Six swimmers from the club made their way to the South East Regional Modern Triathlon Championships at Charterhouse school, Godalming, Surrey on the 28th September. The modern triathlon consists of competing at shooting, running and swimming and is used as a stepping stone to compete in Modern Pentathlon events.

It was a highly successful day, with Catherine Lough winning the Girls B event. Catherine looked strong and confident in every event, and showed why she is on the World Talent programme and is competing in Berlin at the begining of October for a Great Britian youth squad. The success didn't stop there, John Pryor, competing in his first triathlon, came 2nd in the boys A event, Ben Walsh, swimming the quickest in his age group came 5th in the Boys B events. Ryan Powell came six in region, as did Rachael Seaman in the girls B catagory. Rounding off the success was Bethany Seaman, 12 who came sixth in the girls C event, where she was competing against girls nearly two years older. With these exceptional performances all the swimmers will head of for the British Championships held in in Wolverhampton, November.
